Taking as a starting point the definition of citizenship given by the French Declaration of Human Rights of 1789, this international contemporary art exhibition explores whether this 18th century concept can still function in the 21st century or if we are holding on to an outmoded, anachronistic concept.

By observing the current dissolution of citizenship, the exhibition look s at the perception of artists from different parts of the globe in relation to these issues, focussing on works that highlight the problematic relationship of the individual to a space, which is beginning to crumble.

Previewed by Sarah Kent, in Time Out London, March 2005 and reviewed by Daniel Jewesbury Art Monthly Dec-Jan 07
